In my tank of P. Lanisticola, I found a female with a mouth bursting with eggs. They all seem to be yellowish in color, which means they are fertilized, right? I noticed about a week ago that she looked like MAYBE she was holding, and in the last couple of days, her "chin" has really filled up. It's thus about 7 days since she has been noticeably filling up. How long until I should expect to see fry. I separated her into nursery tank. Also, I can leave her with them for the first few days after hatching right? Thanks so much

She'll brood them for 3 weeks. Yes, the color is right for fertile eggs so it sounds like everything is coming along nicely. It should be just fine to leave them together after she let's them out, they tend to be good parents. Here's a link to a page with some good info about them

Hope that helps

A few weeks (3 or so) right up until free swimming stage. So figure you'll need another couple of weeks before she'll release.

Most cichlids make great parents (especially after a few attempts..smile)
