If it is a male, the bottom of it's shell will be concave. If it is female, the bottom of the shell will be pretty flat. Also, if the tail is fat rather than long and skinny, it is a male.

Some species of box turtle have differences in the eye color- males have brightly colored eyes.

You can also go by the tail. Males have long tails with the vent near the middle. Females have short tails with the vent near the base.

This becomes easier to tell when the turtle is sexually mature- about 3-5 years old.

If it's cloaca is near the tip of it's tails it's male if the cloaca is far away from the tip of it's tail it's female. Trust me i have a RES at home.

to tell if it's a boy or girl depends on the tail length. go to you vet and ask if it's boy or girl or go to the library.

No clue on how to tell the difference. Take IT to the vet, they have to know.
