Ok, my brother hates to read. I need to find a book that will spark his interest so he starts to read on his own. He is 11. He read the book Cirque du freak and The End of begininng and he likes and he liked both of them. He also loves sports and comedy. Any suggestions will be helpful.

I need actual books not people telling me to take him to the store or library and let him look around, believe me he would even look for an actual book he'll just wonder around.

I would suggest Rick Riordan. The first book in the series is Lightning Thief. The second is Sea of Monsters. And the third is Titan's Curse. It is coming out on May 1. The books are great. Very funny. Great adventure. Very entertaining. They are also available in audio format if your brother is a better "listener" than he is a "reader."

One thing I love about these books--one thing I noticed right away--were the great chapter titles:

"I Accidentally Vaporize My Pre-Algebra Teacher"
"I Become Supreme Lord of the Bathroom"
"A God Buys Us Cheeseburgers"
"We Take a Zebra To Vegas"

This is a little different, but try and see if he's interested in comic books. There are a lot of good ones out there now, and that's one way to get him to read. He might enjoy Neil Gaiman's Sandman series, or Runaways, which is a new series by Marvel.

As for books, try Ender's Game by Orson Scoot Card.

Well it really depends- If he likes Fanatasy Harry Potter or The Black Guild are really good books to start him on. I think Eragon is also a classic.
If he liked the movie try Stormbreaker :-) (thats more like a spy...)
So Yeah anything which sparks his interest...
For comedy a really good book is 'The Amulet of Samarkand' by Johnathan Stroud...amazing book with a really funny character

I used to hate reading, but then I found a book that I really liked, now I love reading and I can't stop. So, find a book that would interest him, we can't help with that. Take him to a bookstore and let him look around, he might find something he really likes and be hooked for life.

Take him to the library and show him around. I think it will help him get interested in reading. Most libraries have programs that would help him get into it.

I'd go with the Pendragon (D.J. MacHale) series, I thought they were a good read especially for kids 10 and up.

the best way to maintain his interest in reading might to be to get him hooked on a series or a specific author.
