The fastest manual timed 40 is Deangleo Hall: 4.15

The fastest auto timed 40 is Fabian Washington: 4.25

Washington's 4.25 was the fastest combine time ever.

(Manual Timing is .15 - .25 seconds faster than auto timing)

The fastest RELIABLE 40 time that you can actually trust is Fabian Washington's 4.25, electronically timed at the combine. All 4.1 times and most 4.2 times for NFL players are total B.S.

To put these 40 yard dash times in perspective, when Ben Johnson put up his 9.79 second time in the 100 meter dash (0.02 seconds slower than the current world record), he ran the first 40 yards in 4.25 seconds, the same as Fabian Washington's time. Keep in mind that Fabian Washington was well known as a track star before he was drafted by the Raiders.

Like they said DeAngelo Hall had under 4.3, but what I want to know is whats Devin Hester's 40 time, and whats Ted Ginn Jr's 40 time?

You'll see some posting of 4.1 times, don't believe them. I wouldn't even believe 4.2's. IF any NFL player was in that class of speed they would world class sprinters. I've read several articles from NFL scouts and the fastest CONFIRMED 40 time was 4.31. The vast majority of the fast guys in the NFL will be in the 4.38 to 4.24 range. Plus you have to keep in mind those times are in shorts with cleats, no gear. It isn't very indicative of their real football speed.
