The movie was meant to be enjoyed. Nowhere does it say that it is based on factual events. It's based on a comic book for Christ's sake.
I too have read about the battles, and some of the very general stuff is obviously true. For example, the Spartans were outnumbered by anywhere from 13,000 to +250,000 people.

In fact, everybody did read about the history of Greece and Persia when they were at the school. It's universal.
But movies have to be a bit inaccurate, cos this is about entertaining, primordially. If you want a more precise, historical description about the Thermopylae and the Spartan guys who gave the persians the fight of their lives there, read Herodotus, for instance.

What is your question? I thought 300 was awesome. Are you upset because it tells the story from the Spartan's point of view? There are many points of view about any story. 300 just chose to tell it from that one. It's a legend. Like King Arthur.

please, please, don't look to hollywood for historical accuracy. if you do, you get what you deserve.
NEVER look for accuracy in a movie produced by a film company looking to make big bucks.
i think the History Channel did a show on the incident, so i would check your listings for that. or go to their site at www.history.com and do a search on 300, Thermopylae, etc.
