The traditional money system has been replaced by calculators and credit cards. Is this just a way of getting more sales or is it a sign of the developing world?

No version of monopoly will ever be any good as a game (Speaking as someone who played Settlers of Catan and has never looked back).

With regards to the new version, with calculators and credit cards... it seems to me it takes away the one good thing monopoly had which was teaching numeracy and arithmetic..

There's loads of versions of monopoly, including local versions. I think they're all good. We have a traditional one and an american version. Probably get the new one too just for something different.
Sign of the developing world i reckon. It's current.

The new monopoly is a really good game. It is showing that yes the old games are good but we need to bring them into the 21st century. I enjoyed this game and so did all my family. The old monoploy was a great game but i think the new game is even better. For a start you don't need to work all the money out by yourself. BUY IT, BUY IT!!!

Board games dont get much worse than Monopoly, so it's probably better, seeing as they have been trying to improve it. What do we have? 3 or 4 hours + play time, player elimination, roll-the-dice-and-move-that many spaces, inbalance in the starting order? Ugggh!

I liked monopoly when I was about 14-17, but a few years ago I discovered "Euro-games" and I haven't looked back. If you like monopoly, I'd recommend Settlers of Catan, Ticket to Ride or Carcassonne. If you don't like monopoly I'd still recommend them! (Typically about 45mins-1hr15 play time, 2-5 players, no elimination, medium to low levels of luck)

both, these people who manufacture all this stuff are about tthe money they make and how to make our nation appeal to their product. they want stuff we can relate to so it seems more natural. like the new monopoly has a razer cell as a game peice or spongebob or a ford hybrid or a McDonal's burger, you get it. they want us to connect with the world so we can feel like we know those places and things and we can experience it. they feel the old ways don't appeal to this "new generation" like we're getting revolutionized and modern and alot of stuff is old and needs to be refurbished and made to the century we are in.

there is nothing better than the classic wood edition, but since the new one uses cards you dont have to worry about keeping all the money organized

I think a better version would be one where I don't loose all my money and made homeless by my own children

I didn't know they'd made a new one. I like my retro Monopoly.
