If you have a particular brand in mind, go to tirerack.com and read their reviews. They test most of their passenger car tires on BMWs.

To me, since you're running the base 15" wheel, I doubt you're the type who drive your car hard at all.

In which case I would recommend to go with something with a good mileage warranty.

Go to http://www.discounttiredirect.com/ and look at their selection. The Falken ZE512 won the Consumer Report award a while back, and are really affordable too. I've used a couple sets of these on mine without any problems. This carries a 30000 mile mileage warranty. Call them to confirm.

Yokohama is not bad at all.
I'd still go with Michelin or Goodyear. If there's a Price Club or a Sam's Club in your area, go there.
I bought four Goodyear tires of this size for $300 including installation at Sam's Club about 3 months ago.

Depends on what you are looking for, ride, performance, sound. Also, do you want to stay with stock size or go to plus size tires.
I run Toyos proxes TR1's presently on my BMW and love them, but I have gone to plus size, i.e. taller and wider rims with lower profile tires, You get a little stiffer ride 'spotier'. I have run Yoki's on Porsche's, they are pretty soft, so do not expect a lot of mileage from them. I also replaced some pirelli tires when I went to the Toyo's.
You need to know what you are going to expect from the tire, before you make the purchase. What is most important, tire longevity, ride comfort, performance, sound etc. Most tire manufactures make more than one style tire in the same size. With everything I have gone through, I think I will be staying with the Toyo for a while, but that is just me, and I do not sell tires. Sam

If I were you I would purchase a set of Goodyear Assurance tires for your car as they are a really good tire in all types weather.. I have bought two sets over the yrs for my Bimmer and love them although at around 85-90 miles an hour they are a tad noisy but not annoying... If you decide to get the Goodyear's for you car get them from a Goodyear store! DONT GO TO A DEALER! The tires most car store dealers have are only built to the standards of that company they are not all built equally....
