Is your fish moving at all? gills moving? Exactly how long?

Unfortunately if nothing is moving I am sorry to say, chances are he is no longer with us.

If his gills are moving, he could suffering from a few things, one suffocation, is he in a bowl or a tank? Do a water change if he is in a bowl. Lower the water level if he is in a tank.

He could be suffering from a swim bladder dissorder (which is not caused by sucking in air while eating) And yes peas or any greens if he is still eating.

by technique of the time you examine this answer, your fish likely has died. those fancy goldfish are very delicate and their body structure make it complicated to swim. in the adventure that they are which include different goldfish, they're going to compete unsuccesssfully for foodstuff. they don't sleep the different way up. The swim bladder isn't functioning ,so it may't keep its stability. Fish do not stay lengthy with this ailment and it won't be able to be cured.

Ok... looks like we need some clarification here.

If he is upside down, and not breathing (watch his gills for movement) ...the fish is dead.

If he is upside down and breathing, he has swim bladder disease, which is caused by them taking in air with their food. There really is not much you can do for him in this case, but quite often they can live perfectly normal lives "upside-down."

If it is not deceased, it may just be bloated. This is common in goldfish.

He should be ok, but to be on the safeside give him some garden peas. This usually helps them out.

I'm not sure, maybe you should take him out of the water and give him some air to breathe and maybe he'll be ok.

i know this is gonna sound crazy but, my nine year old says his fish always slept upside down. try tapping your fish with something. if he moves, he was asleep. if he doesn't, well, you know the rest.

Um.... your fish is dead. If you have other fishin there with him, GET HIM OUT!!!! He will contaminate the water and kill the oher fish. If you don't have any other fish in there, get him oout anyway - it's just how it is.

by the way, sorry for your loss.
