Region of division - where all the new cells are made to allow the root to grow longer

Region of elongation - where newly formed cells grow, pushing the root farther into the soil and getting ready to become other root parts

Region of maturation (or region of differentiation) - where cells become the various root cell types

A fourth type? Root cap? Not really cellular. Guards the meristematic tissue from physical damage.
