Go for it!

My girlfriends have ranged in ages from 7 years older than me to 14 years younger than me.

A large age gap is statistically associated with a higher rate of breakup/relationship failure. However, you won't know which side of the statistical line you fall on unless you give it a try.

Good pointers to suggest things will work out well include: good communication, good conflict resolution, a variety of things in common and a variety of differences which do not cause upset between partners.

If you are under-age, then of course this fellow could get into a LOT of trouble if the two of you developed a relationship.

Other than that, I don't see much that should stop you from having a relationship with an older guy.

Firstly, 6 years isn't that bad an age gap. Maybe if you're still in high school... afterwards it wouldn't be so much of a problem. I don't know how old you are. You'd need to be 18 at least before you made a decision to move like that. Definitely. If he's going away for a few years at least you've got time to think about it, and if your relationship doesn't stand the test of separation, then you'll know it wasn't to be. Point A must be to sort your own life out first. As much as you may be happy now, you have to deal with the fact that if he leaves you, you need to have your own life to live. Don't rest everything on him though, that's the way to ruin your life.

So long as you are an adult, then a six year age difference isn't a problem.

However, if you are a minor, the potential exists for very serious problems.

So? Usually it's only OK if it's five years, but I guess one more year shouldn't hurt...unless you're under the age of 17. But if you're 17 and older than good for you

I was in "love" wit a 10 grader once, im in 7th... You may think you like him now, but trust me... youll change your mind! He'll completely embarass you by somehow knowing that you like him even tho the seems like a nice guy... Just 4get him unless you wanna get hurt... these things are to risky in school

It depends on how old you are. I f youre 12 and hes 18...very bad idea. If you are 18 and he is 24 not so bad...much better.
