In our country, we are neutral. I don't see Al-Qaeda attacking our people.

Easy to say this with hindsight. Lets not forget though that it was US and UK forces who were committed to "containing" Saddam before the invasion.

I do wonder though, what pressure Harold Wilson was put under by the US to try to get the UK involved in VietNam.

Afghanistan - absolutely a just war which removed an especially brutal regime (especially to women) which sponsored terrorist groups. Of course, those who go on about Iraq being an "Illegal War" might use the same justification for opposing operations in Afghanistan.

I don't think war is right in general. I know there are times when there may be a point but I don't think Iraq is one. However, I don't have the information available to me to have a fully justified opinion. Just a gut feel.

However, it does make sense for a small country to have a massive army at it's disposal should somebody big decide to take a pot shot at us. From that point of view I can see the logic in saying yes to Bush.

Afghanistan though - is it a war? or is it just bullying? I think technically the other side has to fight back formally for it to be a war.

But what do I know......

If I were Tony Blair, I would have encouraged President Bush to invade Iraq sooner AND would have done something about the chicken-s**t french for not doing their part to make the world safe for democracy.

I think the world is much safer since Hussein is not in power.

I dont think either war is a sencible one realy, Afghanistan was done on the basis of catching Bin Laden but turrned into a big big embarresment for all concerned, Iraq was done to be one better than Daddy for Bush, either one I, if I was Blair would have avoided but then I like just about all of the UK people have a spine unlike him

Im American, and I would just have to say that allies that dont stand with allies arent very good allies, are they?

Had those 4 planes hit targets and killed over 5000 brits on sept 11th, we wouldve helped Brittain invade both becase we recognize what a threat we have in those countries that harbor and sponsor terror.

Yes Afganistan was a good thing to do. Both good causes. I just wish the Iraqis were as united as the Afgans.

Since the British divided palestine & israel, they are not popular with the fundamentalists. Blair needs US as a friend. US needs Britan. Strength in numbers.

Yes Afganistan is a just war. Imagine what the Taliban were capable of in such a short time. Those poor people. I'm glad we helped them.

Not if I were Tony Blair.

But if I were someone with a brain and a backbone, absolutely!

Second question, there is no comparison between the mission in Afghanistan, which was ruled by fundamentalist jerks, and Iraq, which was invaded by fundamentalist jerks.

If I were Tony Blair I would have said no to Bush and I would have dismantled Murdochs media empire.
Afghanistan is needed for its location to build oil pipelines, once the US and British oil companies take control of Iraqui oil, destroy Iran, then they will sell that oil to Asia, using pipelines through Afghanistan.

The conflict became into no longer fought because of the fact of 911 - that became right into a part concern. It became into fought because of the fact Sadam would not adjust to the UN determination - precise or incorrect. i'm no Bush fan, yet it incredibly is fake reasoning.
