NOONE outside of San Francisco WANTED Zito! Texas who will spend ridiculously on any player wouldnt give him what SF did, The Yanks never made an offer to Zito because they dont think he's that good anymore, an and the Mets REFUSED to match the Giants offer.. whats that tell me? it tells me that noone BUT the Giants Wanted Barry Zito. What has happened to the Yankees is Not Brian Cashmans Fault.. everyone and there grandmother wanted Pavano in his free agency year, including the Mets, Red sox, Dodger, Giants, Rangers, Indians, Orioles and White Sox.. i dont blame the Yankees for signing him, i blame them for not realizing their mistake and trading him away before season began. Brian Cashman IS a good GM, he has done nothing short of Magic in restocking the Yankee Farm System with nothing but guys under 24 who throw 95-98mph... so leave my GM alone Dimwad!! and worry about yer own team. The Yanks have failed in the Playoffs is the only thing you said that is accurate.

All you guys need to remember, Pavano is done as a yankee next season, his contract is over... the yankees would only need to eat 5 or 6 million, because even with his i broke a fingernail, i cant pitch routine, he is certainly worth 4mill for one year as a starter... i say eat the 4.5 million and put him on a slow boat to Texas or Seaatle or wherever.

Right on. Couldn't have said better myself. It is a mystery why they signed in the first place. They would give a good offer to Petite back then. But they had the money to sign this clown. If I where Cashman. I would accept a 12 pack of Bud for him. They might not find any takers even for that. They cannot count on this Bozo. It's time to give Phillip Hughes a shot in the bigs.

They don't trade him because your GM -Brian Cashman is an idiot. With the payroll he has to work with, he puts up year after year a n average team that can't beat postseason teams with payrolls under 65 million. Where was this genius GM when Zito was on the market? Everyone in MLB knew during last offseason that Yankees pitching was in dire straits...once again they thought they could spend their money on bats and cruise to October again.4 teams in the Central alone are better then NYY with Mussina and Pavano.Maybe Cashman can go trade for another bat...and I could care less if they get Clemens-who would be insane to want to pitch for that staff--Yankees can't overcome that pathetic rotation.

He is a phoney, don't you think it's weird how easily he gets hurt for such a big guy. He gets hurt, he doesn't pitch but he still collects a big fat paycheck and he knows his contract is not movable because nobody else is stupid enough to take on his big contract with his risky "health". In the meantime, Chien Ming Wang is going to bolt if the Yanks don' t pay him his worth.
Yankee management are morons, instead of farming out their own prospects, they keep taken on these overpaid has beens. Remember the Little Unit?

well im sorry to say but i would rather have him as the 5th starting pitcher then Iguawa or somthing like that. I mean we will have ching ming....then mussina....then pettite....the possibly philip hughes...n then pavano. I mean tahts not a bad starting 5!! and on top of taht you might be able to throw in Clemens in that rotation. So having Carlos as a 5th starter isnt so bad if you think about it. I mean atleast he can win games unlike Iguawa

You can't trade him. That's like a factory trading its toxic waste. You have to pay for someone to take it away. If he does actually have a $10 million salary and he is worth $500,000 as a middle inning reliever, the Yankees would have to eat $9.5 million of his salary annually to pay for him to play for another team. Only the Texas Rangers are stupid enough for that kind of arrangement.

They will have to find someone who is willing to take on his contract in order to trade him. As you know, the Yanks have the highest payroll in the league, so that is going to be harder than it sounds. That's the problem with giving a pitcher big money after 1 good season.

The pitching staff is a little beat up right now so just hang in there.
As for Pavano he's just another bad Kevin Brown investment.

I feel your frustration but Pavano is making $10,000,000 a year and no one is going to eat that with his past injury history.
A team would have to be pretty desperate or as dumb as Arizona ( Johnson trade ) to take him.
