Senator McCartney played on American's fear of communism until his investigation became a witch hunt. In your opinion, what activities, if an, warrant the suspension of the rights of an American citizen? Are there instances when the need for national security supersedes the rights of an individual?

Hmmm...Senator McCartney, I think you're confusing him with Senator Lennon.

Any activities as so defined by the Government. This is now in the news with the violation of individual rights and privacy being usurped by the FBI and CIA. It now seems that all you have to say any activity can be curtailed simply by attaching the word terrorist to the justification - whether legal or not.

I think the person you're thinking of is Senator Joseph McCarthy.

Never heard of McCartney inless you're talking about the Beatles.

My opinion is that you don't know the facts about McCarthy (who is no relation to Paul).

He was right, as documents released from the former Soviet Union after its collapse have proved.

If you can get your facts straight, you might be worthy of an opinion.
