1.)Probably narnia, holes, and the polar express.
2.)I think in narnia and the polar express the movie is better, but for holes hmm, the movie's more appeling.
3.)hmmmmm, all remakes or movies from books are good, but personaly, i think the winner for this is the remake for Charlie and the Chocholate Factory. Its soooo scary! And creepy! eghh, it made me depressed for about 4 days!
4.)The book Flipped, i'm near done finishing it. I want it to be a Anime movie, cuze i think it would fit in that style of movie really well.

I alsolutely love Patricia Rosema's adaptation of the Jane Austen novel, Mansfield Park. Where she wasn't completely true to the writing itself, she added something more that I might imagine Austen would have very much approved of. It's an intelligent and also entertaining movie and made me want to take another look at what is really one of Austen's less popular manuscripts.
On the other hand, I really did not like the adaptation of Smilla's Sense of Snow to the big screen. It seemed to boil the entire literary masterpiece down to the thriller that was previously only a skeleton for the story. The writing for that book was so good that the poor ending little mattered by the time readers got there. It was the journey that was enjoyable. Unfortunately, I found that the smart independent spirit of this novel was truly lost in translation. The casting also seemed very hollywood and a stronger actress would have carried the film better and been able to give a more true interpretation of the book. Hope this helps!
P.S. I hear that the Eragon movie was terrible.

Lord of the Rings has been my favourite but I still don't think that the movies compare to the books which are incredible.
Recently I've thought that the Lion, the Wtich and the Wardrobe was pretty deplorable, the book is great which is what makes the movie look so rubbish.
I'd love it if someone made the Wheel of Time series by Robert Jordan into films, it's an epic fantasy series but is very complex, not the usual black and white, good v bad.

Lord of the Flies. The book is always better then the movie. But the movie was good too. Years back I read The Teachings of Don Juan by Carlos Castaneda: A Separate Reality & Journey to Ixtlan. I would like to see this series made into a movie.

My favorite movie that was a book first would definately be The Shining by Stephen King - The book was WAY better than the movie....
The worst Movie taken from a book that i have seen would have to be Flowers In the Attic - V.C Andrews.....they should have left that one alone!!
I think that Movies should stay movies....I think it's cheezy when they take a great movie and make it a weekly series, usually winds up being a flop any how.....

The Color Purple, great book and movie that Spielberg did not stray far from, but the book was amazing!
Some of Steven Kings books did not get the justice they deserved, such as Cujo or It etc..but then you have the Green Mile and Shawshank it really depends on the adapter of the book.
I absolutely love Dean Koontz' Odd Thomas series, if some dares take it on I hope they do it right.

The Chronicles of Narnia were good but Lord Of The Rings were excellent. Quite possibly some of the best movies ever made!
I thought the Harry Potter one's were well made, but I did not like the characters they choose.
I wish the Tamora Pierce Books would be made into movies

The Godfather by Mario Puzo
I saw the movie first and it was great. I read the book next and this method, I found to be much better because I thoroughly enjoyed both and did not have to be disappointed by the way the movie adapted the book.

I liked Queen of the Damned movie and the book too. Would like to see a movie based on Anne Rice's Mayfair Witches books or her The Mummy novel.
