I do. At least sell one of those homeless voice papers but to just beg shows a high lack of motivation. I hate when I pull up to the light with a sandwich in my hand and there they are, the unwilling begging.

JULIEN, what do you mean Unmotivated my a**? What else are they? There is help for the crazy. There is help for the hungary. AND there are day labor jobs where even illegal immigrants, the homeless, get work. You dont need to show up clean or speak english, they give you work, you get paid, in an honest way.

I agree with you. I have seen them going home from their stations, being picked up by a driver in a new, shiny auto. Once when I offered one a job for pay and a meal, they refused. Just think, all you can beg or steal and it's all tax free, and they continue to get their governmental handouts and health insurance.

A diatribe: I do not see this on a daily basis, although, I have on frequent visits nationally and internationally.
No, I do not think it should be illlegal because I am a member of one of the helping professions who has worked with the chronically mentally ill many of whom have NO family support because of the difficulties caring for them. Many of those families are so poor and so overwhelmed. So many who are begging ARE mentally ill and I suspect that if any of us were mentally ill and hungry we would be out there begging as well.
Did you know that when the De-institutionalization movement occurred and the Mental Health Clinics were established that some of the mentally ill in institutions were transported and dumped into cities? It was a mess! To effectively utilize community mental health clinics it is necessary to have a familial, etc. support network who will make certain you have a ride there and the tedious daily task of administering the appropriate meds which often cause the afflicted ones to feel nauseated and not well.
If we could all could be so rational that we could be entrepreneurs selling homeless voice papers, what a lovely world that would be! Possibly, if they could do that, they could even get a real job!!! I know you must hate it to drive up in your own CAR while EATING and be annoyed! I suspect my answer shows how annoyed I am right now!
Something must be done. What? I don't even know anymore. There was abuse in those institutions, but, there is abuse now by those of us who don't want to be annoyed.
I ache and can do nothing to solve the problem in any merciful lasting way. If we are not merciful, we are not good human beings.
And, yes, I DO know there are people faking it.

You sound like a really uncaring person. What do you think should be done? Put the homeless guy in jail? At least he'd have a warm place to sleep and warm meals. But then you'd be complaining that yout taxes are paying for his time in jail. If it bothers you so much then just look away.

ahh u get them all wrong un motivated my ***...
whenever my wife was in college and needed extra money for a concert or something she would put on her "bum cloths" and go stand and collect the spare change. which for her location in pittsburgh added up to be about 23-28 dollars per hour. not bad when her retail store manager job only paod her 9.5. why work 9-5 and get no where when u can rake in the bucks during rushhour and get twice as much as the people giving u their money LOL

Yes, it is annoying. But what is worse is when groups stand out with buckets for money. I was sitting waiting for the light to change one time when one of those people passed my car, saw change in my car and actually had the nerve to say, "We take change, too." I shut my window.
