If your attic has no vents this can cause moisture build up. Is the roof vented? If your not sure look for vents on the eave and ridge of your house. Eave vents are round or long narrow strips. If you have a ridge vent on your roof the shingles on the top of your roof will look like they are raised up a little from the roof. If you don't see any of these things I would say you need to add some ventilation to your house and roof system.

Attic venting is required. While eave and soffitt venting is desirable, soffitt venting is expensive to install in an existing home. You must install 2 eave vents as a minimum to provide the air flow which will eliminate the condensation problem.

Remember the temperature in your attic (assuming it is not living space) should be the same as the temperature outside - in the summertime it will greatly exceed the outside temperature due to heat gain from the sun. The floor of your attic should be insulated with layers of unfaced fiberglass roll insulation. You will know you have enough insulation when the ceiling below feels the same temperature as the room.

If you install soffitt vents be sure you do NOT cover the vents with the roll insulation.
