Society should continue to guarantee welfare to all citizens( aid in the form of money or necessities for those in need ). Which welfare item are you questioning? We have aid to families, the food stamp program, social security, unemployment compensation, medicare, medicaid. the police, armed forces, firefighters, national guard, disaster relief, earned income tax credit, the public schools system, and many more. If you choose elimination, you need to address these expenses and how they will be paid or what happens to a society without these services. If you call the police for an attempted rape, do you (victim who required the help)pay for their services, or the rapist (criminal that created the need for police), include car accidents where neither party created the situation. Also how do keep firefighters employed if one week they are not needed (therefore no pay) and another they are (the only time they get paid). When people hear Social welfare, most think of "aid to dependent families" however our social welfare system is huge, and we all use it.

only if you can find enough jobs in this country to support people. I dont mean the laughable minimum wage jobs niether. I mean good paying jobs.
People on welfare are given a raw deal. Everyone thinks they are lazy and uneducated. This is not the case, alot of people on the welfare roles are college educated but just cannot get a decent job in this country.
The United States is supposed to be the richest country in the world. Yet we have people living in the streets and kids that are starving. That is bullshit. We need to take care of our own and to hell with the rest of the world.
As to your question, You are either ignorant or rich. one is just as bad as the other.
And no I am not one of those people that are on welfare, I help the orginizations I feel deserve my help. The ones who help women and children from our country and not send it overseas.
Should welfare be illegal, No but idiots like you should be!!!!!!!

Welfare is what it is. The amount of people who screw the system makes it bad. If i needed welfare, id be happy to have the assistance, but id never want to be in a position to need the program. I have been working since i was 12 yrs. old so i have a good work ethic that makes welfare a bad thing for me. Bottom line...its a good thing as long as we don't abuse it.

You need to learn what welfare is . There are people who have to depend on it at one time or another. Not everyone on welfare is out to rip off the government.

Welfare is a great thing for those that really need it. Sadly so many think they are supposed to live on this and it gets passed on from one generation to another.

It should be eliminated. Oh sure, there'll be some hemming and hawing, with people talking like the world owes them something because they're here, but eventually, they'll shut up and get jobs.
