I think it is almost indisputable that Genghis Khan was far and away the greatest, but who would you say was the next-greatest conqueror in history?

One of his predecessors, Chinese emperor Qin Shi Huang, who also conquered the whole of China and started the Qin Dynasty.

The greatest conquer of all time... Gaius Julius Caesar. Genghis Khan is a mere second, yes Khan conquered more territory, but his empire collapsed after his death. And would require others to recreate it. Alexander the Great's Empire disintigrated after his death. Rome did not reach its greatest geographical extent until 117 CE and didn't fall until 476 CE in the west and 1453 CE in the East and Caesar died in 44 BCE. Caesar was the greatest of all time because his conquests (Gaul and the Senate) would remain in Roman hands for several hundred years.
