Definitely. You can love some one and not be in love with them. In love means some thing totally different. When your in love with some one you'll have romantic feelings towards them and want to spend all your time with them. Loving some one means you care about them and want to be around them once in awhile.

Loving someone is like loving your car, or your test results. You love it for a while, but then you move to something else. Or maybe it's like loving your parents. It's a mutual thing, when you know it and they know it but all the same sometimes you need to hear it. Being in love with someone is different, like your boyfriend. It's on a whole different level. Like someone up there said, sexual love is a part of it. It's a deeper sensation, I guess. That's what I think.

Yes, there are many types of love, there's love amoung family, love as when you're in love (as b/f & g/f) there's love like love thy neighbor, love as in friendly type amoung friends. There can be love as in being close enough friend (just friends) that you feel related, like you feel like an uncle to a younger person. This is what I had with the neighbor's youngest daughter, who lost control of her car at age 20. She was 5 when thry moved next door, being disabled, I was around her some bit, we were always joking and all. Although we were,'t related, I felt like an uncle to her. There is a difference in your question. What about "Love thy neighbor as you love yourself " ?
That doesn't mean that I'm in love with all these people.

Yea loving someone comes from respect and companionship from knowing them inside. In love is wanting an intimate relationship on top of that.

Well yeah. You can love people. Friends, family...But when you are IN love with someone it's a love on a different level. Sexual love is part of it.

Yes I think there is.
I love my dogs, chocolate, holidays and lots of other things but I'm IN love with my husband and I think more of him than any chocolate bar.
If I couldn't have any of the other things I'd cope but I don't think I could without my hubby.

How's this?
I think there is a difference, loving someone implies one can be admiring somebody from afar ie having a crush, idolizing them, etc.
Being in love with somebody sort of implies that one is in a relationship with that somebody.

Yeah, being in love with someone is a romantic thing. For example, I love my mom but not romantically..I'm not IN love with her.

If you are 'in love' with them it usually means they love you back.
