Are they made to learn Spanish and adapt to society or do they have large pockets where you would think you were in their old country? What do South Americans think of immigrants to their counry? I'm not be sarcastic. I'm asking this in the legitimate sense.

Well South America is a group of countries, all of which (except Brazil) speak Spanish. I've only heard that there has been a large number of immigrants from Guatemala migrating to Mexico. Since they already speak Spanish, and since Latin culture does not vary tremendously among nations, but does vary nonetheless, the adaptation process would be easy and the learning of Spanish would be unnecessary. The racism and discrimination you see in other countries would be virtually eliminated since the immigrants are not of a different ethnic group, but simply of a different nationality.
