Not really, all it is is a way to withhold moisture and keep the weeds from overtaking your area. First of all, withholding too much moisture can cause your roots to rot and decay(they need more air). Secondly, if you are planning to keep a close eye on your area and use a common weed killer such as Roundup, there is no need to spend the extra money or time installing the plastic or fabric under your mulch. The mulch itself will take care of alot of the weeds and let your landscaped area drain properly.

it is best to lay the Plastic first. Plastic will keep the weeds from coming through your Mulch..

You need to use landscape fabric.It lets water in but keeps weeds from coming up.

Very normal, our 4 dogs do the samething all the time. It's like their making the ground ready for when they go to lay down.
