The youngest is about 2 years old,3 inches long and weighs 98 grams.I currently feed them every other day with a sprinkling of nutrobal, and a cuttlefish is at hand. But i,ve noticed that his shell is getting lumpy(not too much)pyramiding. We grow all their weeds in the greenhouse,so as far as i know they are eating the right food. But am i over feeding them too much for the lumpy shell problem to happen.

Shell pyramiding is related as much to humidity and lighting as diet they're finding out. Even though they're considered "dry" climate animals, tortoises love to burrow and the humidity underground is higher than above ground. Too much though, you might end up dealing with a respiratory infection. Do you provide a UVB light for calcium absorption?

Glad to hear you're feeding weeds - more fiber than supermarket produce, which is good. Do you add grains as well? Overfeeding can be a pyramiding problem if you're giving too much protein, but otherwise every day (what they an eat in about 20 minutes) or every other day (what they can eat in 1/2 hour) is a good schedule. You should also time your feedings correctly - by nature, tortoises eat in the morning so they can bask during the afternoon - they use the heat from basking for digestion, plus they get the needed UVB during this time.

I'd suggest that you repost your question in the reptile section (you managed to get this in "fish" somehow, but I answer in both). The user "Madkins" will likely respond - he's the top turtle/tortoise guy in the forum - and he can probably give you more advice on the subject.

While your tortoise is young he will be growing rapidly so sometimes it will appear as if he is pyramiding. What you're feeding him is absolutely correct!! As long as they get a variety of say three different things at every feed then you will be fine.

Make sure you have the right lights for their environment. A baby herman MUST be in a heated tank for the majority of its early life, only being allowed outside when it's particularlly hot. They can not handle nights outside at such an early age. After five years they can be kept in the garden fully, but most people tend to keep them in their tanks through winter and let them roam around there garden through summer. Pasta probable isn't the suitable theory. follow culmination and vegetables. no longer a lot of them like the pellet stuff, yet you may try different pre made foodstuff. ZooMed makes a canned container turtle foodstuff which may be ok for a tortoise too. They beaks and claws do no longer choose for trimming too oftentimes..in line with risk a pair situations a twelve months. in basic terms keep a watch on them and trim whilst necessary.

Before buying ANY animal you should know EVERYTHING there is to know about caring for it.

How often an animal eats is basic basic knowledge that you should know before you buy the animal.

I recommend you research your pets to ensure your giving them the right care they need. Pick up some leaflets and if your not sure about something call the vet, they'll be happy to give you an answer.

Good Luck
