Well, this is the second time this question has come up. "Diamond" responded a while back and yes, this is his real name. His dad, Mor Thiam is also a musician - but he's into jazz. In Africa, many families give their children extensive names to encompass not on the name, but the tribe, and elder parents whom they may be named for. Each name is represented in respect to the families and tribes and many of the respected elders who are the leaders. He goes by Akon Thiam.
