Im 52 and I think it gets worse every day. Morals have almost vanished. Politics are pitiful. Families aren't taking the time to be a family anymore. Even with all this, I enjoy life and being a grandmother.

a lot of people will say 'worse'... but if there's any sign that things are getting better, it's that people are noticing the stuff that society needs to work on.
Big corporations were LESS rsponsible in the 80s...but now people are aware of it and think that it's bad. Being aware is an improvement though.
People are more and more becoming interested in spirituality and philosophy (even though the interest might not necessarily be a religious one).
People seriously question the integrity of going to war. As recently as the mid 1900s, people would barely bat an eye when their country went to fight in a war - Even if the country they were fighting had never attacked them before! Now, if someone flies a plane into a tower and kills thousands of people on your home soil, people examine the integrity of mounting a military response against the transgressors' country. They might arrive at different conclusions on the matter...but it's still an improvement.
Also, we've got the internet!
and more people than ever are getting into post secondary education.
there have also been tremendous medical breakthroughs in the last 20 years...
there's no doubt that the world is changing for the better - and fast. Also, it's no surprise that the road is currently bumpy - adjusting and assimilating is no easy task, but we're up for it!

Most defiantly the worse. I wouldn't dream of letting a child go for a walk anywhere with out an adult them. It's not safe anymore. I used to go horse back riding by myself all the time, but wouldn't do it now. The world is going to hell in a hand basket. To much violence and senseless acts of crime going on. I was never afraid to go to school. Now there's metal detectors in schools. Scary stuff!!!! Used to be a fight between kids was just a pushing and shoving match. Now it involves weapons and the intent to kill.

Don't know if it was better or if it just seemed better because society didn't seem to be so crass and the language and sexual innuendo were not present on TV or in film. We didn't have home computers or access to 24/7 news and bloggers.
I can tell you with a certainty, it sure seemed better. Maybe my ignorance provided the bliss.

The world stays the same....its the people that I am afraid are changing for the worse. I blame the media because they choose to always broadcast negative things. Thus, people, in general are becoming more negative. Along with this, they have become more fearful, not even bothering to get to know their neighbors anymore. Kind of strange isn't it? The Golden Rule says "Love your Neighbor"....geeeesh, we dont even know our neighbors, how are we supposed to love them?

Worse, I would say you just can't let your kids do what they want without someone around keeping a close eye on them. It is not as safe as it used to be when I walked to School by myself. I wouldn't even dream of making my kids walk to School with all the nut cases loose, who knows what would happen if I did that.
