First wait until you are told your contract is not being renewed. Then, seek employment elsewhere. Your school district may attempt to place you at another school first or make you some other offer.
If you take another position, you will lose any seniority you may have-albeit little for a first year teacher.
Moreover, other school districts will not post positions until the end of the year anyway at this time of the year.
Good Luck, and hang in there. I had to move three times within my school district before I had enough seniority to settle somewhere.

By now, if you haven't been told by the principal that your contract will not be renewed, then it will definitely be renewed. In VA, the deadline has passed months ago for non renewal of contracts. But you can still be involuntarily transferred to any school in the district. For example, if you are certified to teach vocal music, then they can transfer you to any elementary school, middle school, or high school in the district.

Every state is different, but in Missouri, if you have not been told by April 15 that you will not be renewed, the school district has to renew you. Also, talk to yhour principal. Your evaluation should have included that information.

Please find out first if this is relevant. Sometimes the best think to do is to have a one on one conversation with your boss and ask this question. If by any chance you receive an uncertain answer............I personally will look for another teaching position. Good luck........and trust me........this might be for the best. You will find the right school district for you and for everyone that will appreciate your work and dedication.

The school budgets are now in and should have been accepted by the school governors. It is quite alright to ask the Headteacher if your contract will be renewed.
Start looking around now as the jobs are starting to be advertised and you might see something you fancy.

It's okay for you to ask your principal if your contract will be renewed. He/She will more than likely be honest with you. Just ask and let him/her know that you need to make plans if you will not be hired again next year.
