In NJ and NY you do not have to show proof of attending school. I believe that in most states all you have to do is go to the Department of Motor Vehicles to take a written test to get a permit. This permit allows you to practice actually driving with restrictions such as driving during the day only and with a licensed driver present. Then you make an appointment with them when you feel you are ready --after you've practiced diving with the help of a licensed driver--to take what they call the actual "behind the wheel test". If you pass that you then get your license. Call your local DMV to get more detailed information. They will give you a book to study with info that will be on the permit test.
I strongly suggest you take the permit test and then get to a driving school to get help actually practicing. The instructors at the school will set up an appointment for your " behind the wheel test" when they think you're ready. It's worth not having your parents do the practice.
Good luck:)!

As long as she has proof that she is receiving an education equivalent to what she would receive in public schools, she can get her permit (or @ least that's the way it in in KY). But as to how to prove that...I don't know.
