Do odd jobs. Here's an idea I gave to one of my young neighbors when he was 10. Create a business of "standing in line" for others. We live in a large city where there are always long lines for sports tickets, musical event tickets, etc. He got himself a cell phone, printed up a bunch of flyers about the service, etc. When someone would hire him, he would simply go stand in line ... sometimes for 2-3 hours. He would buy the tickets and give them to the customer. He got paid by the hour. He would even take his homework with him and get paid while doing his homework. He eventually added services like doing grocery shopping, walking pets, and pet sitting (going to people's homes when they were on vacation to pet and feed their cats and fish) ... he wouldn't pet sit dogs.
