If the paper you have is made by a well known company, you can go to Word, click Tools, then Letters and Mailings, and then Envelopes and Mailings. Click the Labels tab at the top of the box, then click on the Options button. Select the brand in the drop down box and then click on the product number. (I think it's 3612 if you have Avery paper.) Type your business card information in the box and then click on the New Document button.
Hope that helps!

I have designed my own cards in the past, I just found a nice pic on line and inserted with the appropriate contact information. I believe that Word has a template, pretty easy to use.
As far as content, I would advise keep it simple, yet unique. You want to be sure that your potential clients can read the contact information clearly, with a nice image on the side to draw attention to the card.

First of all, you should gather some business cards that have elements that work and don't work.
If you get distracted on the computer, just get a piece of paper and draw a 3.5 in. x 2 in. rectangle and go from there.
To really stick out, design your cards vertically.

i too am a woman in business, and i respectfully would suggest you get your cards done at a printing shop or office supply store. you can get them done very nicely on heavy card stock for less than $40. its well worth it. homemade cards look cheap...sorry!
all the best :)

Using MS-Word to make your busines cards, sounds real professional. I love it when people hand be their business card made out of 8.5 X 11' paper.
