What an awesome research topic. I never got to do anything that cool in school. I would start with the Orthodox Church in America, http://www.oca.org/ They have a book online called “Orthodox Christians in North America,” with a lengthy section on the Alaska missionaries: http://www.oca.org/MVorthchristiansnamericaTOC.asp?SID=1&Chap=OCNA

For a somewhat more readable introduction to the Church in Alaska, check out “Blue Latitudes” by Tony Horowitz. The book is actually about Captain Cook, but it contains a chapter about Alaska, in which Horowitz describes the Orthodox Christian missionaries that Cook encountered, and their lasting impact on Alaska. Good luck.

What church?? I didn't realize Alaska had its own church. Do you mean you are writing a paper on the history of the Christian churches in Alaska? That would make better sense.

Chow!!
