You would think so as they are decaying in the lungs and chest already

Great question. I am not a pathologist, nor a physician, so scientifically I do not know the answer. However, I would say they would decompose at the same rate as other bodies. It wouldn't be like the wicked witch of the west and she was screeching "I'm melting" after the water was poured upon her...I think once you are decomposing, you are decomposing regardless of what you did to your body...unless you are IN water, or being burned...This is macabre! LOL

I can't think of any reason why smoking would make a difference. Dead meat is dead meat - health issues like smoking are for the living only.

I am wondering about what would cause peoples' bodies to smoke! Perhaps, after being struck by lightning?

Maybe if the maggots get addicted to the nicotine. Really, I don't think so. When a coroner needs to determine the time of death during an inquest, they don't need to consider if the deceased was a smoker or non-smoker.

Good question. I'm not aware of any studies that have been done, but I do know one of the components in cigarettes is formaldehyde, which is a VERY good preservative. So my intuitive response would be yes, but it would probably not make a lot of difference.

Somewhat. Smoking weakens bone structure so bones will decay faster.

And this useless information will tell you what? Dead is dead, who cares. Are you burying smokers in your basement?
