As I slow up and gradually apply the brakes I get a chattering in the brake padel. Once in awhile I will get the ABS light on but it goes out after I restart the truck.

Does anybody think it could be a bad master brake cylinder? I believe the answers have too much emphazise on the ABS light.

It's not warped rotors. The chattering is the ABS pump coming on. It's probably a bad wheel speed sensor making the ABS think the wheel is locking up. It knows something is wrong when it engages the pump, but the reading from the sensor doesn't change, so the light comes on. When you restart, the sensor passes the static test, so the light goes back off. Most people cure it by unplugging the ABS fuse.

chattering can be caused by a few things including brake rotors beign warped or ABS having issues (which turns on the light) can cause it also... would need a mechanic to see exactly what it is because chattering can be caused by so many things

Use DOT3 brake fluid. too a lot fluid will spill out whilst the little plunger factor is going back in. you possibly have blown the slave cylinder. That one is interior the bell housing, and costly to interchange.
