It is possible but very very rare to happen. You have two ovaries and one ovary could possibly ovulate while you are menstruating. But I want to say it again that such condition is very extremely rare.
If you want to know whether you are pregnant and have some sort of bleeding, be sure to differentiate bleeding from spotting. If it is beyond spotting then there could be an imposed risk to the pregnancy. You need to see a doctor at once.

It is possible and alot more common than expected. Resting alot and doing keagal exercises help with shortening the bleeding time. Bleeding during pregnancy is mostly associated with weak cervical muscles. You should not bleed more than a light period. Make sure that you explain every detail to your doctor. How much blood, the color and any pain or cramping that might go along with it. It could be something more severe but also something very normal. Just be sure to let your doctor know what is going on with anything that you may have a question with during your pregnancy. They are usually happy to answer any questions or concerns that you may have, no matter how crazy they may sound.

A period is the disposal of the unused egg and uterus lining. So no, you can not have a period when pregnant because the egg was fertilized and the uterus lining has to stay in place to sustain the pregnancy. Many women have regular bleeding throughout their pregnancy, but it should always be reported to an OB as it could indicate a problem.
I'm getting a little worried with this question being asked so much. I'm wondering who is teaching girls about their periods, because most women seem not to know what it really is otherwise there wouldn't be so many "yes" responses.

I bled for the first couple of months of my pregnancy. The bleeding lasted about 2-3 days & always occurred around the time I would expect my period. But since then I haven't had any bleeding & I'm 36 weeks. I think my body just had to adjust.

no you cannot be pregnant. you dont release an egg during a period so no there isn't anything to be fertilized at that point. i mean think about it. some girls do experience what is called light bleeding during pregnancy, but any bleeding that is a normal period is considered dangerous to the baby. their are alot of girls on here who knew people and say that it is possible, but like i said think about it. there is no way you can be pregnant and have a normal period.

Yes, I did for two of my pregnancies. I also had monthly cramping at what would have been "that time of the month." Not fun when your uterus is the size of a basketball.
Hey, Thumbs Downer (and some of the others who seem to think we're talking about menstruation after ovulation, which we're not) - Here it is from
http://www.pregnancy-info.net/spotting_bleeding_during_pregnancy.html
"Some women can continue to have light periods or spotting during pregnancy, especially during the first few months."
You're welcome!
And, for some of the others, it isn't rare. And of course, it isn't from ovulation, but it IS bleeding, which is commonly called a "period."

A woman may experience spotting during pregnancy, however, the menstrual cycle is interrupted in pregnant women. Women who are pregnant may experience symptoms such as nausea, breast tenderness and swelling, increased urination, tiredness, headaches, mood swings, and other symptoms; when these symptoms begin varies from woman to woman. If you think you might be pregnant, it is recommended that you visit clinician for a pregnancy test.
However my friend said that she didn't know that she was pregnant because she still had a period, I personally didn't believe her, In my opinion she was trying to hide it.

Yes but it is very rare. Usually when there is blood when a woman is pregnant it's called spotting and she should go on bed rest for a couple weeks, because it means the baby is in distress.

Yes, but it isn't a common thing. Your periods will be lighter than normal and for about half the duration as normal. Sometimes your first and second period can be pretty close to normal, but not the rest of them. Check with your Dr. if you are feeling signs of another pregnancy.
