I work as a computer tech and I've probably worked on Windows Vista around 20 times, on desktops and laptops, mostly dells, and a few HP's, and a few others. If you like Vista and are happy with it, and don't have any problems, you will probably enjoy it.
That said, I have had to uninstall Vista on 4 computers, and install XP again, some of these problems include, Not being able to install their favorite games, they got copies of office from someone else and it won't install on Vista, The printer won't install on Vista, the incredimail won't work correctly on Vista, and a ton of other reasons. People are creatures of habit, and Vista is just too much different than XP.
People want to be able to sit down and the computer works and works well. Vista just isn't there just yet.
What do you think?

I have found that a lot of people have trouble upgrading to a new OS, but if they start with it, everything is fine.

The problems you mentioned probably would not have happened if they had started with VISTA, they would have the correct drivers and or versions, but getting it and installing it on XP, then switching, you can expect a few problems.

And, of course, you even mentioned that they were using a copy of software they "got from someone else". Perhaps Vista's anti piracy protection is better.

Anyway, I always figured that my next system will have Vista on it. As long as my network works, I will have happy. . .

No! Don't get a Mac. Windows Vista still has quite a few glitches and needs to be polished by Microsoft. If you ask me, Vista is too much like the OS from Mac anyways. I think everyone should wait a while before they buy a new computer.

Dell is okay yet while something is going incorrect, you may no longer take it on your community laptop place--they gained't touch it, because of the fact Dell is so weird and wonderful with their inner set up and warranties and what no longer. additionally, domicile windows Vista is undesirable as you have probably heard, or maybe their new domicile windows software which would be out quickly is already getting undesirable comments. Apple's are super for many reasons--in the beginning, their new Macbooks are 'green' (environmentally friendly). 2d of all, they're much less probably to get an outbreak...plenty extra shield. Their interface is amazingly consumer friendly, and in case you elect, you probably can use domicile windows on your mac (i prefer to no longer b/c I hate domicile windows)...I do in spite of the fact that have MS place of work on my laptop. My macbook is the suitable laptop I actual have ever had, and that i've got had laptops and computers the two; via IBM and Dell. that's via far the suitable. this is super at multitasking, and this is in simple terms aesthetically alluring besides! I additionally like that the apple internet site has a super number of video tutorials; and there are regularly apple shops around the corner for help. I actual have spoke of as their shopper helpline and that they are easy to attain and particularly knowledgeable. I had no concern the two attaching exterior mouse, and hooking up my printer and digicam...in simple terms plug and play. reliable success! I noticeably propose the macbook!w

I use Linux and I build my own computers so I don't care what Dell does. But you're right Vista blows and will go down as a bigger disaster than Windows ME. I've only heard of 1 case where a person had success with Vista. But it's a computer that he hardly ever uses. Man I hate Macro$loth, bunch of lazy and bad programmers

I don't like to get new operating systems for at least a year after the launch...MicroS has such a hold on the industry you'll probably have to "settle" for vista if you get a new 'puter...
