OK, I have a windows xp, laptop, and i bought it in january 2007, at first it was super fast, i mean, all programs loaded in a sec, and when i entered a website, the page will fully load in one sec. but then it started to decrease the perfomance of how fast it is. No it's not any spyware, antivirus, trojan, etc. because i daily scan for any of it. Is there any way to make my com. go any faster as it was? instead of degrag, ?

Why not just run a defrag? Also I recommend downloading CCleaner (http://www.ccleaner.com/), running the file and registry fixer. Doing all three of these things should speed your PC up, but the thing is, the more stuff it has on it, the slower it's going to run.

While taking into consideration all that was mentioned above try this as well

Hit Ctrl-Alt-Del to bring up your task manager. What I've noticed is that computers when they are New have less than 40 processes running. Which means less things in the background.

If your higher than 40 then...
1. Go to start
2. Click on Run
3. Type msconfig in the open textbox
4. Go to the General Tab
5. Select: Selective Start-up and leave everything selected EXCEPT Load Startup Items
6. Select Ok

I don't always like the idea of installing software to fix a problem. In some case it can work and work well, But on the other hand the goal right now it to remove unwanted software. Be carefull with what you do. Don't go for the "You just won a Million bucks click here" And be wary of the FREE stuff because everyone has got to make a living. If its truely FREE you need to wonder why. Because they are getting something in return whether you know it or not.

Well what happens over time is your hard drive becomes riddled with bad registry entries, over stocked with temporary internet files, and temporary installation files, and overstocked with programs you will probably never use etc.

0) Meaning optional. Download and update all Windows and Device Drivers and software. IT might help but probably will not

1) Do a Disk Cleanup, to get rid of all temp files, and compress old files being used rarely.

2) Uninstall any programs you do not need, and any Windows components you do not want, "Windows Messenger, MSN explorer, Media Centre, etc."

3) Do a Disk Defragment and do it a couple of times, yes more than once to ensure your disk is nice and organized, and not so fragmented

4) Download a good and trust worthy registry cleaning program. Make sure you read up on it and read the experiences of other users, and make sure it is from a reputable software company. Always backup your system, and always make sure you save any important files you need seperatly, if worse comes to worse.

5) Download a couple of different antispyware programs, and try them all. They all catch different things. Please do not use Windows defender or Norton Anti-spyware, or Mcafee. those all suck for spyware. Download AVG antivirus. it is a good free anti-virus which catches more than the ones that cost money.

6) If this does not do the trick, than reformat and start a fresh and a new, cus bud you have an overly cluttered, under kemped system.

There are several reasons for speed reduction. Most commonly, it is attributed to TSR programs (Terminate and Stay Resident). These TSR's appear in the form of ICONS by your clock.

I suggest running 6 or less TSR's not counting the speaker. I would get CCleaner and have it gut the pc for Orphan files, then have it clean the registry, then go in and remove everything from the startup except your Antivirus program and internet security software, such as Firewalls.

Reboot and see an amazzing diference.

Start > All Programs > Accessories > System Tools > Disk Defragmenter

Just run this and leave the computer alone till it finishes.

This will "organize" your computer files to make them as fast as possible.
