Did any caucasian players choose to wear #42 in honor of Jackie Robinson today? I know that some entire teams are wearing #42, but I'm talking about teams where it was the players' decisions.

I am caucasian and if I was a baseball player, I would be wearing #42 today in honor of this great man. Yet it seems to me that only non-whites have been wearing his number.

Who are the caucasian players on teams that did not all wear #42 that chose to wear the number?

Every team was asked to ask for a player to wear 42 today. Some teams chose the player to go to (the Giants were one, and Sabean, as seems to be his wont, went to the wrong player and only that player), others asked for volunteers. You have the lists, and Jim Thome is on that list, so yes, at least one.

I agree with your sentiment that honouring Jackie Robinson should not be the role of one "race" but of all people, all humans. In fact, 10 years ago, I would not have minded if a "white" player who was already wearing 42 had continued to do so, provided that he had always worn it as that tribute.

If the game hadn't been rained out, the entirety of the Pittsburgh Pirates were going to wear 42 - since 5 of the starting position players are white, there would have been at least a few white with 42 on.
