No it doesn't matter what brand camera or mic you buy. Compatibility with items like this has nothing to do with the computer brand, but more stuff like your operating system, memory and stuff like that. If you don't know much about that kind of stuff don't worry. If it's a new computer thats not some really crappy cheap one youll probably be fine. hope this helps.

No you do not need to get a Dell or HP product, I do recommend that you get a named brand. Logitech has some great web cam as does Microsoft now...all priced between $50 and $100...have fun.
