I know that Luis Gonzalez was well admired by Diamondbacks but his numbers have dropped off and may be he needed a change of scenery. I am sorry for the Diamondbacks but I think they will survive and eventually flourish .

So, you think that the reserve clause should never have been overruled? In essence, that's what you're saying.

Curt Flood refused to accept the reserve clause, saying that it made players property instead of men. The courts initially agreed with the owners, but this ruling was overturned, and the reserve clause went with it.

Players are human beings, and as such, they are allowed and fully entitled to make their own choices. Gonzalez exercised that right.

Your question refuses to recognize that right. As lousy as that is on any given day, it is an atrocious question to be asking today, Jackie Robinson day.

He made a good choice going to the Dodgers. He is playing a lot better now and he is now with a team that could make it to the World Series this year against the Boston Red Sox. I think he will hit 29 Home Runs this year and 106 RBI. I know you are upset because you lost him but you will have to get over that!

I think that the Diamondbacks wanted to go with younger players and the Dodgers were caught offguard by JD Drew's departure.

The D-Backs aren't his first team (he spent time with the Tigers before), so I can see him leaving Arizona for a couple of reasons: wants a shot to win it all before he retires, wants a spot in the field everyday, wants a better contract. The Dodgers could offer him all of those things, so he went there.

I live in Arizona and am a D-Back fan.

and the fact is... We did not offer him a contract. Plain and simple, the team did not welcome him back for another year.

and quite frankly, as a d-back fan... I can't blame them. He is just getting older, and I am sure his triplets can throw the ball farther than him. plus, we have Quentin, Young, Byrnes, and even Hairston has proven this year he can play some major league OF.

The D-backs are re-building. He probably was going to be let go or traded anyway.
