In the last few years it seems to take me ages to sober up after drinking, unlike everyone else. I wake up still drunk as late as noon, and sometimes I'm not fully sober until as late as 2. Last night I blew a 0.13 (my roommate has a breathalyzer just for fun), and 8 hours later I'm still a 0.08 whereas he went from a 0.20 to 0.01 in the same amount of time. Is my liver broken?

There are few factors which makes this process easy or difficult.

1. Type of alcohol.
2. Amount & Duration [ If you drink too much but takes longer time to consume-you will end up sobering up easy ]
3. Body's adaptability to clear alcohol from your body. It is here where LIVER and KIDNEY 's role comes.

I think you should reduce your consumption-this is a sign being given by your body that it is taking longer time to clear. More time it takes- more chances of getting you a serious health problem.

Looks like your poisoning your system. Getting drunk is not good for the body. In time you may have sclerosis of the liver and cause your kidneys to shut down.

Most likely because your liver is not metabolizing the alcohol well. You should ask your doctor about that since he is qualified, trained, and licensed to give you medical advice where people on this site are not. Good luck.

Chow!!

If you liver was "broke" you would know it honey, for sure. Being sober by noon really isn't that bad my friend. Gives you plenty of time to start over.

Your alcohol metabolism rate is slower than that of your roommate. It's actually slower than any other I've heard of. You may want to consult a physician to determine if there's a problem.
