Vesna Vulović (I may have misspelled her name) was a flight attendand on a DC-9. The plane blew up at 33,000 feet, and she fell and survived.

About ten years ago I saw a TV show where a guy was skydiving and his parachute didn't open, and he smashed into the ground at terminal velocity. Both arms and legs telescoped, but somehow, he made it through and was on TV. Super, super lucky guy.
