Think of your body as a placenta. Can a fetus in the womb imagine life outside of it? No, it's beyond its comprehension, just like the next stage of existence is for most mortals.
You can get a lot of info on the next dimension of being from channeled info from the other side. The movie "What Dreams May Come" is pretty close to the truth from all I've read and discussions with those who channel.
