Yes, my grandmother would save them and then have us put them in the books for her when we came home on holidays.
Nasty tasting things, then we started using a wet paper towel to wet them with.

They always had the coolest things to trade for.

Oh yes, my favorite set of dishes were bought with green stamps, they stopped giving them out right when I was old enough to start saving them.

They were given when you bought quality merchandise.

Then came Blue Chip Stamps.
You could get them anywhere.

Oh my goodness, you're making me age myself! I remember them being given out, and I even remember applying for a job in one of their redemption centers in high school. Wow, I'd nearly forgotten about those things.
