It depends on the age of your daughter. If she is younger, a fish might be better for her since she might not be as tempted to pull on ears and tails. Fish can get more expensive though if cared for right. If you're just thinking a goldfish, to care for it properly you'd need a 15-20 gallon tank, and that's just for one fish! And you can't skip out on filters, bubblers, water conditioners, pH testers, ammonia testers, and heaters. You could get smaller tropical fish, and they require the same, but not as much space as a goldfish. Wouldn't recommend a salt water tank for first-time fish keeping. My opinion is the larger the tank you can afford, the better. If you're not willing to spend all this money on fish, then I recommend a betta fish. But you can only keep them singly. They also require filtration and at least an air stone and pump. If your daughter is very young, expect to do the water changes and chemical treatments yourself.
Now, if your daughter is a bit older, a bunny might make a good pet. They're better if you want a cuddly pet you can love and get affection from. But regular cage cleanings are needed, as their feces and urine smell rank. And I'd also recommend having the rabbit spayed/neutered and kept with a buddy, because if your daughter is busy, she might not have alot of time to spend with the bunny.
Good luck picking a pet!

Bunny, you cant hold a fish and bunnies are sweet and loving fish just swim around fish are pretty though and its not that much work to have one. Rabbits on the other hand need a lot of attention and they are a lot of work i clean my rabbits cages often and they need to be excerised for one hour each day Let them either inside or your house or outside (make sure you have a fenced in back yard before that). Rabbits can be litter box trained although i havnt figured out how to train mine. I have a fish to and we keep him in a small tank and he is very nice and not a lot of work. Some fish can be very loving to their owners i had one that always wanted to be close to me, or he wanted to be fed lolz anyway i think that whatever you choose will be good. You should talk to your daughter and see which one she wants. Have Fun with your new pet!!

Bunny's life spans are 7-12 years and I'm not sure about fishes. I feel it is difficult to take care of fishes because you need to make sure they don't get sick from ich (Ich looks like tiny white spots on the body and fins of the fish), that you don't overfeed them, that the tank is clean and many others. I think that you should get a bunny because they'll live longer, and deffinately make your daughter happy to have a pet she can actually play with and not just look at. hope i helped

first how old is your daughter? because you will be the one taking care of it. some bunnies aren't very holdable or playable, they can't kick and cause nasty scratches. why is that the only 2 options fish or bunny? fish can be interesting if you get live breeders like platys or guppies you can show her baby fish. if you buy a pregnant female fish you can ask or tell because the belly will be bigger and have like a black area by bottom fin and they you can have lots for the price of one, but you have to have some where to hide or the mom will eat them.

depends on her age ? over 10 a dog or cat. because animals are not a play toy !! if younger a fish, not gold fish they always die and there the ones most people start out with but they are the worst to take care of and they die to easily! So Tetras ( Fish) are the easiest to care for ! or what about a hermit crab !! i here there fun for kids !

Start with a fish - and just a regular goldfish bowl with two cheap goldfish. Bunnies aren't great because they aren't very playable with. A cat would be a better alternative.
