well, either nothing could happen because there are multiple codes for each amino acid so by chance the code still signify the correct one. Or the polypeptide chain of the protien will be incorrect and the function of the protien changed, and basically a mutation.

Replacing a single nitrogen base with another is a "point mutation", but it might not cause any difference in the protein that is made.
