Ok, I live in a part of the country where all of te restaurants are Franchised owned. However, many of them are run very poorly and we don't get the same type of services we expect like the corporate owned ones (such as the same Kids Meal Toys).

All I want to know is Why do they do things like that? Why can't they run their restaurants right and hire people who want ot serve customers?

Why do Franchise owners purchase restaurants then if they know they're not going to run the restaurant appropiately?

I understand where you are coming from. I have lived in places like that before and there are a few where I live now. The way to combat it is to complain to the national companies. They may be franchised, but if they get enough complaints, the company is not going to want an owner to continue representing them....that is what I would do.

Franchisees must conform to minimum corporate standards. They also may choose to provide other service (with corporate blessing) geared to local tastes and atmosphere. If you have a problem with a local franchise, call or email corporate offices. If they get enough complaints they will fix the problem or strip the franchisee of his franchise. I've seen it happen. Good luck stickin' it to the Man.

The answer lies in the fact that franchised have a little more lead way in the standards and conformity. Corporate have to comply with nationally run specials, advertising and have periodic inspections to make sure that they are complying. For Instance, I worked at a Holiday Inn, they were falling short of Corporate expectations/guidelines, so they had to remove the name "Holiday Inn" from their business name until they met corporate guidelines.

Owners have certain priveliges. Sometimes they don't have a good choice of applicants, either.
