I can not get my mouse to move the cursor on my laptop?

I connected an external mouse, and it still did not move the cursor....HELP!

Reset it this way: Unplug it and take the battery out then push the power button (it won't start up of course). Now put the battery back in and turn your laptop back on & hopefully that does the trick.
