Big bang is as much a truth as God Almighty himself. In absence of big bang God Almighty cannot exist. Putting it vice versa... in absence of God Almighty the big bang theory gets negated. How? In brief I shall now explain how it all happens.
At the time of dissolution of the Cosmos... everything shrinks to half the size of thumb. And what is this half the size of thumb? All souls’ atmans in the Cosmos at the time of dissolution reach their last... the 8.4 millionth manifestation. Having regained their original pure pristine form... the sum total of all purified souls atmans join together to form the volume of half the size of a thumb!
This half the size of a thumb... the sum total of all purified souls atmans in the Cosmos is what we know as God Almighty. This definition of God Almighty is attributed to Bhagavad Gita... the most sacred Scripture of Hinduism... the doctrine given to mankind by Lord Krishna in Mahabharata. Everything contained in Bhagavad Gita is as pure as God Almighty himself.
This massive colossal energy we know as God Almighty unable to retain itself for long... explodes with a big bang and starts the formation of a new cosmos... a new cosmic journey! To assimilate what has been stated above... one needs to dive deep into the bottomless pit of wisdom contained in Bhagavad Gita. The knower of Bhagavad Gita becomes the knower of all and gains enlightenment (kaivalya jnana) and salvation (moksha) in the end. More on God - http://www.godrealized.com/god.html

The big bang, or Horrendous Kablooie as i call it) was an explosion OF SPACE, not an explosion in space.
According to the standard models there was no space and time before the big bang. There was not even a "before" to speak of. So, the Big Bang was very different from any explosion we are accustomed to and it does not need to have a central point.
If the big bang were an ordinary explosion in an already existing space we would be able to look out and see the expanding edge of the explosion with empty space beyond. Instead we see back towards the big bang itself and detect a faint background glow from the hot primordial gases of the early universe. This Cosmic Microwave Background Radiation is uniform in all directions. This tells us that it is not matter which is expanding outwards from a point but rather, it is space itself which expands evenly.
The fact that the universe is expanding uniformly would not rule out the possibility that there is some denser, hotter place that might be called the centre, but careful studies of the distribution and motion of galaxies confirm that it is homogeneous on the largest scales we can see, with no sign of a special point to call the centre.
To jump to a supernatural explanation (without one scintella of evidence) for the observations by astonomers and cosmologists, does not make rational sense.

This is such an open ended question!
We do know that the universe started with a bang; it is proven fact. The static radiation in the universe and the continuous outward expansion proves that the universe started from an explosion in a point of space-time.
As for the question of whether god created the universe there need to be more specification. Witch god? There are over 500 certified religions in the world each with there own god. And so fare there has been no tangible proof of any of these gods existing.

The Big Bang is the latest scientific theory about the beginning. There was once Fred Hoyle's Continuous Creation theory that rivalled George Gamow's Big Bang, but evidence supports BB much more than CC by now.Gods are imaginary and thus in the realm of myths. Who created gods? Who created the creator of these gods? Science is truer than mythology. Priests created gods to control people and swindle money from them.

I believe that God was and is behind the creation and has designed all. I believe that the earth is billions of years old and that animals and plants did "evolve" but that what we call "evolution" is really God's hand in forming and making all, slowly over time. God is eternal. Time is non-existent to an eternal Being. There are just too many things on this earth that happened absolutely perfectly to have happened by chance. I also believe that things were put here in place for our specific enjoyment like certain foods and love for example.

For a religious person God created everything. For a person who doesn't want to accept God's theory, the Big Bang or a Parallel universe colliding or an alien supreme being( which technically means God) makes a perfect sense to them. The truth is out there.

Why do most people believe in one or the other? Here is a thought-- perhaps God use the big bang to create everything. I know, it sounds crazy, but it's possible.

God used the big bang to create the universe. Had to happen somehow. I can't picture the universe being built piece by piece in 6 days.

That question will never be answered positively in our current life form. Humans do not possess the knowledge or skills to grasp the creation of life, it's well beyond our level of comprehension. Why is it always just evolution or creation. What about beings from another planet colonizing the Earth?

Duhhhh, God. The big bang is a stupid theory. Scientists made it up just to come up with something that leaves God out of it.God definately created everything. "In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth"(Genesis 1:1).
