No, but it will slow you down so you generally don't want to do it unless you are trying to avoid a tag.

It's not about how he gets there. It's about the fact that all runners coming into first are doing so on a force play. If the defensive player tags either the player or the bag before the player safely reached the bag, the player is out.

Diving into first actually slows down the batter-runner. Doing so can work, but really, it pretty much only works if the throw is high and a bit off-line.

Further, no matter which base is involved, sliding head-first is an invitation for injury to the head, neck, shoulders and hands. It's not worth it to go in head-first.

No, but since you can over run first base without being tagged out, unlike any other base except the plate, there is no reason to risk injury with a slide.

No, but it is faster to run strait through and right into foul territory, than slide. But if you are close to a tag, or the first baseman is on top of the bag, you probily should slide.

no you can slide into any bag, but at first it is recommended that you run through the bag because its faster. All sliding does is trying to avoid a tag or to cause a collision to stop a double play.

No. It is legal to slide into first base. It's extremely dangerous, and also uncommon. Most times a guy slides when he is going for a base hit bunt.

No, a baseball may slide into first base as long as he stays in the legal dimensions of the baseline.

No but i dont see why the runner would do that anyways because 1: you could get out, 2: it slows you down, 3: you could get hurt, and 4: its dangerous. GO YANKEES!!!
