Unfortunately all the tire places are closed on Sunday to be able to get my flat tire replaced, and I need to get home today for work tmw. I'm two hours away, can a spare tire handle it?

Drive 55 mph or less whenever possible, try to give it a break by either driving slow on side streets or just stopping somewhere once in a while. What is bad for a spare tire is prolonged driving at high speeds, you can drive on it all you want as long as its not overheating. Of course this assumes you have a mini spare and its properly mounted on the REAR wheels. If you have a full size spare you don't need to worry. If you've put a mini spare on the front wheels remove it and move it to the back wheel.

Depends on the type of spare tire you have. I have a Ford F-250 pickup truck and my spare is just another tire, identical to all 4 of the others, so I could drive on it for the rest of it's life. On the other hand, I have a Geo Metro with a "compact" spare, which is rated for 40 miles at 40 miles per hour (I think, I am not sure I'm remembering the specs correctly). It is not designed to be used for the long term, just enough to get to where I can get the regular tire repaired. I would not count on it for more than a few miles at relatively low speed.

If you are going to drive on it. Try shifting all the weight that you can off that side of the car. Drive at a reduced speed beloew the speed limit. If you can find a can of tire glue to spray inside that will help it from breaking down. As well if your car is front wheel drive and the broken tire is on the front. Move your spare to the back and put a good tire on which ever axle is the driving source of your car. Ive seen people drive on spares for weeks. Im not sure how they could that long but they did. Best of the luck to u.

Have you tried a Gas station some of them can fix the tire. If you are near a Sears Store they (most) have a tire center..I would only drive with the spare according to your owners Manuel..be safe and don't speed.. Good Luck

Well the spare has to fit the vehicle.

Technically, its safe, as long as its pumped up.
But the law can get you because by the book, all four of your wheels should be exactly the same.

A lot of spares these days are stupid thin little things only capable of short journeys, but if you have a good old normal wheel, you should be fine.

If it is one of those small tires, I believe they are rated for about 50 miles and at a slower speed. It might say it on the tire

I don't get it. I mean, does your spare tire wear off when used for a long time? If yes, then maybe you should buy new ones later.
As long as they are air tight nothing will happen

I always roll the windows down and turn the radio up....if it gets to where I just cant keep my eyes open, I pull over for a minute and walk around the car a few times to wake myself up...this really sucks when it's raining out

you will be ok, trust me, you can drive on a spare for weeks, you just cant travel over 50mph, i have driven on my spare for 2 days to work, 30 miles each way and i just stayed under 50mph and i was ok, got me there and back and now my spare is back in my trunk for my next use whenever i need it. just be easy over potholes and braking. dont do hard braking or hit big potholes.
