Because I live on a smallholding 5 miles from the nearest shop. We transport animals in trailers to slaughter and we use the 4x4 for that.
For shopping and ordinary travel, I use a Honda Jazz 1200cc hatchback.
I grow all my own veg, I produce my own meat, I recycle a lot more stuff because of this and I never fly anywhere because I can't justify the carbon cost.
So, why would you think I am selfish again???

I do not recommend an SUV for a first car. 1) Even small ones have huge blind spots thus making difficult to negotiate safely at slow speeds or when changing lanes. 2) High Insurance Rates 3) High gas mileage 4) High gas mileage 5) High gas mileage 6) Instability at high speeds 7) High Gas Mileage I would recommend a Toyota Scion or the Xa if you are looking for a small practical vehicle.

My SUV only costs me $40 to fill and that lasts me about a week and a half really. I really dont care if other people think I'm being selfish. I bought it because I liked it, not because I worried about what people thought of me

I own an SUV and the only reason why I bought it was because i had a smaller car and i got in an accident adn got really hurt so i wanted a bigger one. I do not fill up the gas tank until it is practically empty

It's pretty cheap to own mine. I only have to fill up every month and a half to 2 months or so. But I don't have a long way to drive. I need the space in it for when I buy supplies. Plus it's older, paid off, registration is cheap, insurance is cheap.

I am selfish so what do I care!
Maybe I have 8 kids I need to haul to the welfare office.
Ok not really, I like having 4WD and I need the room. But seeing how I don't travel much since I'm always on YA I don't use much gas. So it's all good.

I have to have one- I am an entertainer with a lot of equipment to haul, and it barely fits into my SUV. I don't take passengers, I take cargo. It will not fit in a sedan.
I am very careful about how I drive. I combine trips, stay home some days, and I don't gun it when the light turns green.

I have a small SUV, and I average more than 30 miles to the gallon. That's better than our E-85 car!!!
We bought one for the room, the miles to the gallon, and because it's a step up from our car.

I bought mine because of where I live, I had a need for 4WD and needed the extra room. I have owned it for 3 yrs and now no longer need the 4WD so I will be looking for a more cost effective mode of transportation.

I average over 20 miles to the gallon in mine. NO biggie.
People suck sometimes. They just want an SUV. I bought it so I can go 4 wheeling. The Prius is not offered with 4X4, hippie.
