I have an Apple Ibook 2004, and the display backlight has gone out. You can still see the screen very faintly, so there is nothing wrong with the computer. Has this happened to anyone else, or does anyone know how much it costs to repair?

If you feel that you're able to you can do it yourself:

http://www.ifixit.com/Troubleshoot/ibookG414#backlight
otherwise i would go with taking it to apple.

I'm just a DIY'er that site is tons of help if you are, it has a step by step walk through of dismantling ur ibook and they sell parts for it.
Seeing as how its prob your inverter thats bad and that costs 30 bucks it could be a cheap fix but labor can be w/e they prob want to charge for it. So no telling how much but I wouldnt pay more then like 90-120 for it.

Considering I can dismantle my powerbook and reassemble it in an hour it shouldnt take that much longer to do that inverter. Just my 2 cents hope it helps

Take it to an Apple authorized fix save and notice no rely if this is worth reparing. $seven hundred to restoration the priority on a laptop is approximately as low fee as low fee gets. you does no longer get plenty for the aspects as they do no longer look to be worth plenty in my view and that they out date very at as quickly as= yet supply ebay a attempt and notice what you get. on account that the G4 iBook went out of production approximately 2 years in the past it might have already been previous once you got it.
